Stationary Engineer – RI

Huffmaster Crisis Response is recruiting experienced Stationary Engineers with a City of Providence Stationary Engineer License for a potential labor dispute that could occur at an Acute Care Facility in Rhode Island in mid to late September 2024.

Job Requirements:

  • Summary:
    Maintains, repairs, inspects and installs steam plant/refrigeration plant, machinery and associated equipment.

  • Education: HSD/GED
  • Experience: 5-Years of Stationary Engineer Experience, Preferably at a Healthcare Facility
  • Licensure: City of Providence Stationary Engineer License (Valid Through 10/31/24)

Pay Rate: $65/Hour
Weekly Guarantee: 60-Hours (If Ready, Willing, and Able to Work Each Scheduled Shift)
Shift Length: 12-Hours
Assignment Commitment: Must have the ability to travel and be away from home for at least 45-days. The exact length of the assignment will be determined once the union issues a notice of intent to strike.

  • $50 Per Day Per Diem to Cover the Cost for Meals and Incidentals

Requirements / Qualifications:
• Correctly operates, maintains, and repairs the chemical water treatment system.
• Accurately performs preventative maintenance tasks in order to prevent unnecessary equipment breakdowns and to prolong the useful life of equipment.
• Accurately performs layouts in order to optimize installations.
• Accurately reads and understands blueprints and drawings.
• Performance of duties requires constant communication with all Medical Center staff in order to achieve quality customer service.
• Occasionally interacts with contractors, vendors, and building/safety officials.
• Continuously interacts with co-workers and customers with emphasis on quality customer service.
• Demonstrates concern and respect in all interactions.
• Maintains all safety requirements associated with the Medical Center.

• Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage for department.

• Consistently and accurately performs all required technical criteria associated with the Boiler Operations.
• Demonstrates compliance with state/local codes and licenses in the performance of duties.
• Thoroughly and effectively troubleshoots service calls.
• Accurately estimates and records the time and materials that is required to perform specific work assignments.
• Effectively anticipates supply needs and maintains an organized supply inventory in collaboration with Inventory Control Coordinator.
• Effectively utilizes the computerized Maintenance and Engineering system.
• Correctly operates, maintains and repairs boiler and associated equipment.
• Correctly maintains logs for all service calls and pertinent information with regard to the steam plant and chiller plant.

Working Conditions:
• On average, approximately 5% of the duties involve working with hazardous substances that necessitate the use of safety apparel.
• Occasionally some of the duties involve working on or around moving machinery, electrical systems, infectious systems, excessive heat, dust and noise that necessitates the use of proper precautions.

Physical Requirements:
• Work requires a person to stand or walk most of the day.
