Huffmaster Crisis Response is recruiting experienced Machinist personnel to work during a possible labor dispute for a aerospace company located in California. This job action could occur end of August 2024.
Pay Rate: $40/hour
Weekly Guarantee: 60-Hours (If Ready, Willing, and Able to Work Each Scheduled Shift)
Basic Requirements:
- 1 Year of Machinist Experience Within the Last 5-years – OR – 6 Months of Experience Within the Last 3-Years
- Completely and independently sets-up and operates various types of Hot Header machines making required adjustments to diameters, grip lengths, depths, etc. to tolerances of ± .0007. Uses various support tools and equipment such as wrenches, pliers, calipers, micrometers etc. to set-up, maintain and repair machines. Progressive header set-ups are single or multiple blow as well as single or multiple die or any combination thereof.
- Loads wire or bar stock, positions and secures to holding device. Verifies feed position. Selects machine speed, tooling, , heating temperature and element position and other variable tasks and items required based upon most efficient methods to maintain tolerances for material and tooling required. Adapts or modifies tooling, fixtures, etc. to ensure proper machining or machine functioning.
- Operates various types of Hot Headers and Trimmer machines as required to complex levels for the completion of the various operations necessary on the workpieces being formed. Maintains visual check of work in progress to assure proper functioning of equipment.
- Provides necessary counts, processes documentation correctly, and maintains daily production togs using computer software applications or production worksheets. Keeps interim records for subassemblies, material, tooling, rework, etc. while in the cell.
- Reads blueprints or other documentation to visualize machining required and plans sequence of operations. Check initial parts including first article to exacting tolerances. Applies SPC principles and practices to production runs ensuring acceptable inspection results for parts headed. Checks work is progress for proper functioning of machine and tooling.
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the production operations in a cell. Uses interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications.
- Must be willing and able to travel and deploy for a minimum of 45-day
Job Summary:
Completely and independently sets up and operates the various Hot header machines in use by the Company to perform complex operations such as forming, shaping, cutting, piercing etc. on various sizes and types of metal wire, bar stock etc. to required close tolerances per blueprint or other specifications. Operates other machine tools as necessary to produce tooling required for heading set-up and operation. Trouble shoots or reworks any problems with hot and progressive heading machines and tooling and makes necessary repairs to machines.
