HVAC Technician – RI

Huffmaster Crisis Response is recruiting experienced HVAC Technicians with a State of Rhode Island HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic License for a potential labor dispute that could occur at an Acute Care Facility in Rhode Island in mid to late September 2024.

Job Requirements:

  • Summary:
    Maintains, repairs, installs, operates and inspects heating ventilation and air conditioning systems throughout the Medical Center.

  • Education: HSD/GED
  • Experience: 3-Years of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic Experience, Preferably at a Healthcare Facility
  • Licensure: State of Rhode Island HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic License (Valid Through 10/31/24)

Pay Rate: $65/Hour
Weekly Guarantee: 60-Hours (If Ready, Willing, and Able to Work Each Scheduled Shift)
Shift Length: 12-Hours
Assignment Commitment: Must have the ability to travel and be away from home for at least 45-days. The exact length of the assignment will be determined once the union issues a notice of intent to strike.

  • $50 Per Day Per Diem to Cover the Cost for Meals and Incidentals

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Thoroughly and effectively troubleshoots service calls in order to prevent re-work.
• Accurately estimates the time and materials that is required to perform specific work assignments.
• Effectively anticipates supply needs and maintains an organized supply inventory.
• Accurately record time and materials utilized for all respective work orders.
• Effectively utilizes the computerized building management system.
• Correctly installs, operates, calibrates and repairs electrical, mechanical and pneumatic mechanical controlling devices.

Technical Skills and Job Specific Tasks:
• Correctly installs and repairs ventilation system duct work.
• Correctly installs, operates and repairs refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Correctly installs, operates and repairs ventilation equipment.
• Accurately performs preventative maintenance tasks in order to prevent unnecessary equipment breakdowns and to prolong the useful life of equipment.
• Accurately performs layouts in order to optimize installations.
• Performs general maintenance duties as the boiler room call-man when working on the third shift.

Working Conditions:
• On average approximately 5% of the duties involve working with hazardous substances which necessitate the use of safety apparel.
• Occasionally some of the duties involve working on or around moving machinery, electrical systems, infectious systems, excessive heat, dust and noise which necessitates the use of proper precautions.

Physical Requirements:
• Requires a person to stand or walk most of the day.
• On average approximately 75% of the tasks involve lifting weights in the range of 5 to 10 pounds.
• 5% of the tasks involve lifting weights in the range of 25 to 50 pounds.
• On average approximately 50% of the tasks involve reaching overhead and working off ladders most of this time.
